In the beginning…

Clayton Browne, Managing Director of EDF Heat Pumps (previously CB Heating) has worked in the renewable energy sector for over 30 years.

Building CB Heating from the ground up, Clayton now heads a highly successful organisation with over 100 employees across the UK. He is at the forefront of heat pump installation and installer training in the UK and is a regular speaker at industry events such as the Installer Show and the Heat Pump Summit. He is a well-known and highly respected leader in the renewable energy sector.

Starting his career as an apprentice-trained plumber by trade, Clayton launched CB Heating having seen a future in renewable energy whilst working with thermal solar energy systems. As new technologies developed and emerged on to the market, he was keen to explore and embrace them becoming an early adopter of air source heat pumps.

Clayton installed his first air source heat pump with an underfloor heating system on a beautiful barn conversion back in the 2000. Since then, the company has installed thousands more across the UK.

CB Heating were acquired by EDF, the UK’s largest generator of zero-carbon electricity in 2024 and rebranded as EDF Heat Pumps. Being part of the EDF team has given Clayton’s team at EDF Heat Pumps the opportunity to install even more heat pump up and down the UK 

EDF Heat Pumps has a large head office building on the Essex coast, also the site of their industry leading HPIN Training Academy, dedicated to training the next generation of heat pump installers.
